Hi, I’m Leah! I enjoy encouraging people to experience the great outdoors, especially mountain biking. I have been riding mountain bikes for 20 years. Starting with downhill racing in the early 2000s. Mountain Biking Coaching is my passion, and I enjoy coaching riders at all skill levels. I also have a background in gymnastics coaching, and I have applied this knowledge of body positions and balance to my mountain biking coaching.
And when I am not mountain biking, I run my consultancy.
Progress Village Consultancy – Project Management & Evaluation, specialising Outdoor Recreation Management Leah is also an outdoor recreation management specialist with a focus on:
The PhD! I am so passionate about outdoor recreation I’ve almost finished PhD on it! The research project aimed to explore the management of outdoor recreation areas near townships using social, economic and environmental approaches. The project includes developing an integrated sustainability, health promotion, and outdoor recreation economy framework for the outdoor recreation setting. The project involves applying this framework to a case study area and to better understand how to balance community social needs with tourism potential and environmental sustainability of natural areas used for recreation. The case study area includes the walking and mountain biking trails in Herberton Range State Forest and Baldy Mountain State Reserve near the township of Atherton, QLD, Australia.
The research project comprising three studies: a trail user study exploring attributes and attitudes of trail users; a community study identifying attitudes towards sustainability, adventure and special interest tourism and community access to outdoor recreation; and third, an environmental study monitoring trail user behaviour and the appropriateness of trail guidelines for multi-use trails.
